The Problem

PILLINGERS HIRE is a family business that has operated successfully for 30yrs. They were frustrated their website did not reflect the size of their business, the range of products they offered and the quality of customers they served. They also wanted to be more visible on Google for core search terms like “party hire” & “marquee hire”.

The Result

We increased website traffic from 2,478 visits to 3,761 visits in 5 months and the number of enquiries went from 183 to 261, a 43% improvement.

Our Strategy
Technique # 1
Created new Information Architecture
Created over 100 new website pages
We collaborated with the client to build a list of all the specific products they sold. We then created a web page for each product. This helped to provide helpful information about every product that could then be easily found on Google when potential customers were searching for those products.
Identified target keywords
We established key areas in the business they wanted to target. From there we used a range of tools to compile a list of relevant keywords that typically attracted large volumes of search traffic.

 

Wrote new website copy
Since the existing website was focused mostly around images, we wrote new information that was easy to read and answered typical questions potential customers might want to know about the products.
Created product themes
Using the target keywords and product topics of the new web pages, we identified core themes that we could build authority around.

Designed Desktop, Tablet & Mobile Design
Developed User Experience
By thinking how a typical customer might navigate around the website, we implemented a number of features and functions that helped users find the information they sought.
Designed User Interface
We understood that showing a visual representation of the products was important to a typical customer. We designed a website that looked classy and yet still made it easy for users to navigate.
Conversion Focused
The new design included a call to action on every page. We also installed a fixed menu bar that constantly showed the phone number. We expected these features would help maximise enquiries.

Technique # 3
Develop new SEO friendly website
Created sitemaps
The existing website had no sitemaps which meant Google could not work out what pages were important to show in the search listings. We created new sitemaps that allowed proper indexation.
Created Title Tags and Heading Tags with relevant keywords
Having created more than 100 new pages on the website with unique content, we leveraged the new content by writing titles and headings that included targeted, relevant keywords.

 

Created compelling meta descriptions
By writing compelling meta descriptions that included relevant keywords for all pages on the website, it increased the chances of people clicking on their listing when it appeared on Google.
Increased website load speed
With so many images on the website, we ensured the images were compressed, the website code was clean, enabled proper caching and eliminated any web hosting issues

Implemented a strategic social media campaign

Increased “Likes” from qualified Facebook prospects
The new website included social following links and together with targeted promotion to selected users, we were able to increase the number of “Likes” from 123 to 4,521.

Promoting content
With the increased Facebook following we promoted selected articles, images and info graphics to these followers with the purpose of driving users engaged with the content back to the website.

Public Relations Outreach
Using a number of PR sites we were able to reach out to selected publishers and produce content they were interested in sourcing from industry experts. This content helped generate additional website traffic.
